I'm writing to publicize Horn Studio Graduate Assistantships and Tuition Waivers for Hornists at Illinois State University. Two graduate assistants are graduating and we would like to hire at least 2 new graduate assistants. Please post and/or share this announcement with those who may be interested. Horn Studio Graduate Assistantship & Tuition Waivers at Illinois State University The Illinois State University School of Music anticipates a Horn Studio Graduate Assistantship Vacancy and Graduate Tuition Waivers for hornists for 2008-2009. Stipend is $7,200. per year plus a full Tuition Waiver worth $9,041. per year for non-residents. The assistantship is a renewable award worth up to $16,241. per year for non-residents.

Duties include performing in the Graduate Brass Quintet or Graduate Wind Quintet and may include instruction of studio overload, assisting with Horn Choir, Master Class and coaching chamber ensembles. Other duties are based upon qualifications and interests. Additional performance opportunities may be available in several regional orchestras.

The Horn Studio  at Illinois State University
Current enrollment is 28 students. All students receive 1 hr. lessons and meet horn class/horn choir twice per week. The Illinois State University Horn Choir performs on campus several times each semester. Former guest artists include Hermann Baumann, Barry Tuckwell, Gail Williams, Froydis Wekre, Eric Ruske, Martin Hackleman, Jesse McCormick, hornists from the Philadelphia Orchestra, Paris Opera, and the St. Louis, Houston, Baltimore and National Symphonies and hornists with the U.S. Marine, Army, and Navy Bands have presented Recitals, Concerts and Master Classes at ISU.
