>>HOT, the WMS hosting & image processing steps we have taken. for the albanian flooding we had our own hosting on our own server. We did not have gps devices cause no one could afford to help. We has support of giscorps. We also had some data from city of shkoder. For kosovo we used the same server (which is now offline), gps devices where donated by unhabitat, drlizau, rrota.com and myself. in the beginning we also hosted the data ourselves. now thanks to mikel we are using the hypercube for some layers. The images, we got from begging, had no money. Except Bekim from immap who purchased russian topo maps and donated alot of data himself. And not to forget logisticsplus www.*logisticsplus*-ks.com, which donated imagery, data and manpower.
I hope this is what you wanted. mike On Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 12:18 AM, Sam Larsen <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi all, > > As part of the GPSToGo revamp, one of our imagery sources will be the > purchase of high-res satellite imagery (funded by donations) for specified > areas in developing countries. > Having not been involved in this process for HOT, i would like to get some > more info on the suppliers that we have used in HOT, the WMS hosting & image > processing steps we have taken. > Mikel outline the process to me last week but i need to get it all written > down. > > Please can someone outline the imagery request process, suggested imagery > suppliers, guide imagery purchase price (i am hoping to get the same price > for GPSToGo), expected cost of WMS hosting and any other considerations so > that i can put together a plan for imagery acquisition for our project. > > Thanks all, > > Sam Larsen > Web GIS Specialist <http://uk.linkedin.com/in/samlarsen> > M: +44 (0)794 433 7455 > > > > > _______________________________________________ > HOT mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/hot > > -- James Michael DuPont Member of Free Libre Open Source Software Kosova and Albania flossk.org flossal.org
