I also agree in regards to doing a TED talk about HOT and MissingMaps, or
any of the ongoing projects for that matter. Almost all my friends watch
TED talks, and a huge number of them are not involved with mapping,
humanitarian work or open source projects, but I know a lot of them would
watch the video if it was available.

It's a great way to reach out to non-specialists that might have never
heard of HOT or GIS in general, but are curious. Well curious enough to
watch a video at their finger tips, but not curious enough to search
designated sites, forums, or blogs related to crowd sourced mapping. There
is currently a massive hype around TED talks and we should use it to spread
the word to the general public!
