Hope all of you had a good September, since we gave you the month off for
meetings. :-)

Why pay for what is free? Good question, and one we'll try to tackle this
month ... Adobe ColdFusion Builder costs $299, even though it's built on an
open source platform (Eclipse). Compare this with CFEclipse, a *free* add-on
for Eclipse. Not to mention that if you've made an investment in the Adobe
suite, Dreamweaver is an excellent CF editor in its own right. Then there's
other free editors, such as Notepad++, etc....

So is it worth it to spend the $299? At our next meeting we'll do a "CF
Builder Show and Tell" where we'll look at some of the features that make it
a compelling product, and more than just another editor with syntax
highlighting:
* debugging
* integration into the server
* extensions (plugins written in ... CFML!)

We call this a "show and tell" because if you're already using CF Builder,
we bet there's a trick or two you can show us.

Free stuff
-----------
As always, there's free Adobe stuff. Nothing says "I'm an Adobe pro" like a
big Adobe sticker (or 2. or 3. or...) on your laptop during a meeting. Or
writing notes with an Adobe pen. Even better, you can write those notes on
one of those cool Adobe notebooks we had at the last meeting.. I bet we have
at least one more.

What if you're thirsty during that meeting? Well... you could take a swig
out of the new, never-seen-before Adobe water bottle. This isn't your
typical "bicycle-style" bottle, but one of those fancy looking clear bottles
you'd quickly give Starbucks $20 for.

When/where
-----------
Last Wednesday of the month: October 27, 2010, 6:00 PM.
Location: Bank of America building, 1020 Holcombe Blvd Suite 8.830 Houston,
TX 77030 (free parking!)     (tentative)
