Hi There, got here a stable Gentoo System and set up hplip (0.9.7) some time ago and all was fine. Since recently hplip doesn't connect to the printer anymore. - I don't know why.
I spent some hours trying to debug. But all I see is, that hplip doesn't talk to the printer while snmp does. For now I access the printer directly via cups ... However, I'd prefer if I could get hplip running again. I couldn't find anything suitable for this issue in the archives, so I try my look bothering you guys: Environment: HP CLJ2500 with JetDirect J3111A Gentoo with Kernel 2.6.16.19 hplip 0.9.7 net-snmp 5.2.1.2 Hplip cannot connect. Here's eg. the hp-makeuri output: # hp-makeuri -l debug 192.168.2.254 HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 0.9.7) Device URI Creation Utility ver. 2.5 Copyright (c) 2003-5 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, LP This software comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY. Please The same applies for other tools like toolbox hp-info etc - here's the tail of hp-infos output. (5002) 04.07.2006 12:27:03 Device is powered down or unplugged. (5002) However, snmp works fine and I can access the printer: > snmpwalk -Os -c public -v 1 192.168.2.254 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.9.1.1.7.0 enterprises.11.2.3.9.1.1.7.0 = STRING: "MFG:Hewlett-Packard;CMD:PJL,MLC,BIDI-ECP,POSTSCRIPT,PJL,PCLXL,PCL;1284.4DL:4d,4e,1;MDL:hp color LaserJet 2500;CLS:PRINTER;DES:Hewlett-Packard color LaserJet 2500;" Installed hplip on another host and that's happy with the printer. Just rebuild net-snmp and hplip but that doesn't help either. Any ideas?? Thanks a lot in advance!
