The first two failures are normal, which just means hplip was not
currently running (may not have been installed).

Here what this means is you must select the hp backend. This is the
Device URI. When you are selecting
the device I/O connection, select the one with hp: (the one with the
device serial number in it) and not the system default of usb:

I'm sorry you are having this experience with HPLIP.

You will want to review the install docs at:

http://hplip.sourceforge.net/install/step2/fc4.html

You are most likely having troubles because SELinux is enabled. Please
disable SELinux, run "/etc/init.d/hplip restart" delete your printer
from CUPS, and then re-run hp-setup.
