Thanks for the help but I'm not sure I understand. What configuration is not 
supported? The Linux box is connected to the printer through the USB, and it 
works perfectly. The problem is when I try to print to the printer through 
the Linux box using an XP machine. I can "see" the printer on the network 
with the XP machine, but when I print to it I get the "correct driver is not 
installed" error on the XP machine.

The printer drivers appear to be imbedded in the setup files on the 
installation disk. At least when I search for the drivers, windows doesn't 
identify the correct drivers on the installation disk. Going to the HP site 
doesn't help because the downloadable file is the same as what I already 
have on the installation disk. I have also been unable to download the 
"basic information" file. What I'm looking for is just the printer drivers 
for XP (don't need scanning, etc.) without all the other garbage on the 
installation disk.
