Update:
looks like hpssd has problems to connect to socket...and exits with an
error.

after installing hplip from sourceforge (build and make without errors
or warnings, manual install),
whne I try to run 'hp-setup', I get:
error: unable to connect to HPIOD
Ideas anyone?
