It is a kernel problem, see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=184825 Solution: Don't use the CUPS "usb" backend for printing. Use the HPLIP "hp" backend for printing. None of the usual generic printer setup tools which I know about is well prepared for HPLIP which works best when a print queue is set up with its hp backend and where this backend is required for a HP all-in-one device. Therefore use the HPLIP setup tool "hp-setup" to set up the queue.
