Hi all ! I am running Slackware 11.0 on my computer and I have recently bought a network printer from HP ( HP C 5180 ).
After looking at the HPLIP web site, I have understood that I only can use hpijs ( in fact compiling the entire hplip tarball fails because of PyQT which is not found althought it is installed ? )in relationship with CUPS. I set up the two services in the correct order and everything was fine. But when I want to use this printer : - The first time I send a file to print to this printer nothing happens !!! I have to go to the Administration page of the CUPS web site to "virtually" configure the network printer and then click "OK" At this moment, the printer begins to print ! - After that, in the same session, all the files I send to the printer are automatically and immediately printed ! I have looked at logfiles but cannot find what is the problem at beginning. Any idea ?
