Sorry about the lack of information, I'm using gcc-2.95.3 I installed 
precompiled binaries. What other information do you need? Do you think 
it's at all possible that because the gcc was precompiled to be in 
/usr/local, that make might be using an older version of gcc elsewhere 
in the path? How can I test this.
