Terrific! Thanks so much for the info! Where do you find these
configuration options documented? I can't find any docs on how to run
htdig.. I had to guess at how to get this thing working.

Put this in your config file for htdig/htmerge and reindex your site:
url_part_aliases: http://test.mydomain.com/ *1
Put this in your config file for htsearch:
url_part_aliases: http://test-ext.mydomain.com/ *1
