Okay, this is getting into water over my head. :) I do not know how I would
find such a library or use it.
Here's what I've done in the meantime. I downloaded the tar file from
sourceforge for version 3.1.5 and started configure. It reports
creating cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal... missing
checking for working autoconf... missing
checking for working automake... missing
checking for working autoheader... missing
checking for working makeinfo... found
configuring ht://Dig version 3.1.5
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc ) works... no
configure: error: installation or configuration problem: C compiler cannot
create executables.
What all this means, I have not the slightest idea. Except that it claims
the compiler is not working. I can understand why it wouldn't like that.
