The last two forms above only apply to template variables in your
htsearch template files, and not to attributes in your config file.
Also, you can get at environment variables from within templates, but
not within config files. The latter has been proposed, but we still
need to work out the security implications of this, and find a suitable
syntax for it.
Your best bet is to go with Joe's suggestion of using relative URLs
with the 3.1.6 snapshot.
