Based on our earlier discussions, she was running Red Hat 7.x's htdig-3.2.0-2.011302.i386.rpm, based on the 3.2.0b4-011302 snapshot. Upgrading to a more recent snapshot would certainly be the next bit of advice, to see if it clears up these problems. -- Gilles R.
