We found some interesting instructions on installing and displaying htdig results at:
www.devshed.com/Server_Side/PHP/Search_This/page1.html
Althougth these instructions are not very exhaustive, they allow to display htdig results from php with total control over the displayed results, without the use of any special wrapper.
You can also pre-process results from php, create custom links for each result, etc, because there is an intermediate step between the search in the htdig database and the displaying of the results.
The main idea is to request to htdig the results with a minimun and very simple template and then, you process those results from within php before displaying them. So, the final results, depend exclusively on you php programming.
We have performed and tested this method at biopsicologia.net/busqueda.php4
I hope this will help.
