I have been wondering about this recently, with the
idea of using something like this to create a 'related
articles' display within each article.

ecommercetimes.com has a good example of a great
related articles section.

I guess that I could use the article title for the
search terms, but wondered if there is an efficient
way to make use of the htdig database to get 'high
frequency' words from a document. i.e. maybe I have an
article about MS windows, but the title does not
actually have the word 'windows' in it. If 'windows'
occurs many times in the article, it would be good to
use in the searh for similar articles as well.

php.net uses a "wrapper" script for the htdig search
(source is available on the site)

Manuel Lemos also wrote a nice class for this -
http://websapp.mirrors.phpclasses.org/browse.html/package/26.html

I use a combo of both at www.insurancejournal.com
