Judging by the "htdig: Unable to open/create document database", my
first guess would be to check the permissions of
/usr/home/ips/html/htdig/db/ to make sure the user you're running htdig
as has write permissions on that directory.
I have given this directory the widest permission set and no go.
Is there already a file, /usr/home/ips/html/htdig/db/db.docdb, there
with more restrictive permissions?
Yes there is, but note that it is owned by root. ????

If the user you're running htdig as doesn't have sufficient permissions
on that file, then that's a problem.
