No, my hosting plan does not have ssh access. But I have most everything
else, including perl support, CGI, FTP, and all these others I
mentioned.
Apache1.3
Red Hat Kernel2.4.21-4.0.1
elsmp
MySQL4.0.24 PHP4.3.11 PHP55.1.2 PHPMyAdmin2.7.0-pl1 Python2.2.3-5 Go Daddy allows me to install more software if I can install it with one of
their features they provide. As far as text editors go, I have been using
html kit and nvu which support and have plug ins for almost anything necessary.
Thanks, Ri.
Third: Can you handle a text editor? I don't mean MS-Word or OpenOffice that deal with paragraphs & fonts, I mean something that only puts in /exactly/ what you tell it to, such as vi or emacs or even Notepad. Mike when htdig talks about extracting the files for installation, is
it
> talking about on our computer or the server? Also when it says to > execute the configure commands where do you put the commands into to > execute them? You give no detail of which package you are trying to install, nor of the computers involved, but I am guessing from the nature of the questions that you have picked up a copy of the source of htdig, and have never built any software from source before. What I suggest is that you tell us exactly what Operating System the "server" is running, and then we might be able to come up with a pre-built package that is just mouse-clicks to install (if you have the necessary permission on the server of course). |
