SSH is like a telephone call, there are two ends. Just because your
copy of Putty is capable of speaking SSH does not mean that GoDaddy are
going to listen -- unless you pay their fee. And, as I said before,
when you _do_ get connected you are going to be typing Linux commands,
all that SSH does is pass what you type to the server in a secure
encrypted fashion so it can't be intercepted. From GoDaddy's website the
lowest level of hosting package that allows SSH is $US38.98 a month --
and further good news is that you could install htdig easily from a
package.

I use Vim. http://www.vim.org/

The htdig template files contain fragments of html, but they are not
complete html. Tools like Nvu will try to add the proper html headers
and footers, and "fix" things that look incorrect. Only when several
htdig files have been put together by htsearch does the full html
emerge. If, and only if, your html editor has a plugin that says "I
understand htdig syntax" should you use anything but a plaintext editor.

Yes to both.

That's nice, but none of them are likely to work on any of my computers.
I am doing this because it's my contribution to the work that other
people have put into developing htdig and distributing it for free.
