Thanks for the quick response. I didn't mention that the search was
working fine up until about 1/2 hour ago. Then suddenly it started only
returning the count and not the links. Do you think it could still be
caused by custom templates?

Sounds like what might happen if htsearch was set up to use custom
templates,
but the template files are incorrect, missing, or not installed in the
place
where htsearch expects to find them.  Take a look at htsearch's
configuration
file (usually htdig.conf) to see where it's expecting to find its
templates,
and make sure the template files are installed there.
