I apologize for bothering everybody. It turns out the networking group
was doing Y2K testing on the server and did not re-start the search
function when they were done (at least that's what they said). Anyway
the search is working again. Its just my luck that they decide to do
testing like that on the day I provide a search link on the main page of
our Intranet. My phone has been ringing off the hook ... Thanks again..

That depends entirely on what happened on your system in the past
half hour. If someone went around deleting or moving files around, it
may be that your template files got hit. Obviously, SOMETHING changed
on your system if it was working fine a half hour ago. Can you think
what it might have been? Any changes to any configuration files?
Installing other software?
