Hi Hanno,
I hope you don't mind me cc-ing the rest of the list because I think
it's a good question. (BTW, I don't think there's ever such a thing as a
stupid question.)
I *know* of two others actively working on new features--Gilles and
Gabriele. I'm hoping there are others working on things that I don't
know about. :-)
Right now the development process is fairly free-form. We're progressing
towards the major goals of the 3.2 release, adding features and killing
bugs as they come up. Hopefully we'll soon have the architectural
changes in place and we can plan on a beta release by the end of the
summer. For a list of open projects, see
<http://dev.htdig.org/projects.html> or ask for suggestions!
At this point, any patch to be committed to the source should compile,
and hopefully still result in a working system. For example, I have a
bunch of almost-completed patches that are still in need of debugging
before I commit--they produce way too many segfaults. When we get to a
beta release, I'm going to firm things up a bit from the 3.1
release--I'd like to get this one out faster, so I'll probably make an
earlier feature-freeze date.
If that doesn't answer your question, please let me know. (Yes, I guess
we need a FAQ for dev.htdig.org...)
