Remember that ht://Dig is not "Open Source." It is 100% GPL, and this 
means it is not necessarily compatible with some "open source" 
licenses. I haven't seen the IBM Public License, but this is 
something to consider.

I guess my first question would be whether these two groups have 
considered getting together. Is there a reason that the GNOME folks 
have decided to form a libunicode beyond what's in glibc?

My second question is whether the glibc folks (or anyone else) 
intends on making the iconv/wchar code into a standalone library or 
if we'd have to do it ourselves.

I'm just one vote, but I'd say that stability should be a secondary 
consideration at the moment--this will not make it into 3.2 (as much 
as I'd like it to), so there will be time for the library to 
stabilize.
