Attached is my merging of Vadim's posted Configuration code. 
Normally, I'd just commit it to the tree, except it doesn't seem to 
be working. There's some problem in the bison/flex parser and it's 
not compiling correctly. I'm also not sure what the '-ll' changes to 
the Makefiles are for.

Have I botched things in my renamings?

Any clues? Vadim?
