Actually, let's separate this a bit. The "main branch" is not 
necessarily 3.2. The branch I made was labelled "htdig-3-2-x" for a 
reason. It's not just for 3.2.0b1. I called a feature freeze so that 
we might get 3.2.0b1 out soon. I don't think Vadim's configuration 
code went in yet, so I'll add that tonight, and put my 
ExternalTransport code up for approval as well. Beyond that, I think 
we just need lots of testing. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

I suspect we'll need a 3.1.x maintenance release or two. With what 
people *desire* for 3.2, we still have more to do--significantly 
searches by date or "field." As I said when I made the branch, after 
3.2.0b1, we should probably unfreeze to finish up final features and 
work out all the bugs and problems people will discover. :-(

As for what to go into 3.1.4, we certainly have to put in the 
ampersand patch. It's becoming enough of a problem I'd almost suggest 
rolling 3.1.4 before Thanksgiving...
