One other thing I noticed when building the snapshot under PPC. During the
configure I received the message...
warning: THREAD MUTEXES NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS COMPILER/ARCHITECTURE.
I have seen something similar with older versions, but I seem to recall it
being something about spin locks rather than mutexes. Mutexes are
certainly supported on my machine. I have written heavily threaded code on
this box and it all ran flawlessly.
