I've never seen output of multiple &nbsp; characters--browsers are
supposed to ignore multiple spaces unless within a <pre></pre> context.

You can take a look at the ewswrap CGI which maps +/- operators to full
boolean expressions. However, the operators are not supported in ht://Dig
at this time.
