I'm not quite sure what you mean. I *think* you mean you don't have any
sort of shell access, only ftp access and you want to run it. In that case
no. You have to have shell access on whatever machine is doing the
indexing, at least to set it up.

You *don't* need shell access on the machines it indexes--it can just use
HTTP connections.

If this isn't what you mean, maybe you could be a bit more specific.
