I was having your problem and after upgrading the rpms I am not. Our
machine is a Qube 2 ... is yours the Qube or the Qube 2? Here are the RPMs
I actually installed on top of the stock qube2:

ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/binutils-2.8.1-3C1.mips.rpm
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/egcs-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/egcs-c++-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/egcs-g77-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/egcs-objc-1.0.2-9.mips.rpm
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/libstdc++-2.8.0-9.mips.rpm
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/experimental/libstdc++-devel-2.8.0-9.mips.rpm

Also, I installed htdig from a source RPM ... specifically this one:

http://www.htdig.org/files/binaries/htdig-3.1.1-1glibc.src.rpm

Now available and perhaps worth trying is:

http://www.htdig.org/files/binaries/htdig-3.1.2-4glibc.src.rpm

If you aren't familiar with how to install a source RPM give send me a
private email and I can step you through it. It works for me so it should
work for you ;-)

If you are on the Qube and not the Qube2 then I can send you a list of all
my installed RPMs and then (perhaps) you can more fully compare why yours
works and mine doesn't.
