Just a thought. How about an option for saving the compiled template to disk, so that it can be loaded later on. Maybe the new method could accept either a raw template or a compiled one, with some Magic Number at the start to identify a compiled on, or maybe just an alternate parameter. This would be an advantage because we could then precompile the template, thereby getting rid of the initial compile delay. It would also be useful in situations where mod_perl isn't being used.
