You are confusing chunked transfer encoding with HTTP pipelining. Please refer to RFC-2616 for more information. HttpClient 2 and 3 do not support pipelining. This is a planned feature for 4.0, see bug #22628. Even with pipelining the two requests have to be properly serialized. This is certainly hard to achieve from different threads and HttpClient is currently not prepared for such a cenario. NIO may be of help in 4.0. If you have hacked around the standard APIs to make two requests over the same connection, we can close this bug now as invalid.
