Hi Bruno,

  at last I understand Panini -- thanks for that. I guess that in the
  same way that stereographic can be generalised to have the
  projection point anywhere within the sphere, Panini can be
  generalised to have a projection point anywhere within the cylinder
  -- I'll have a look at that next.
