I still don't understand it fully though. I'm thinking to build a new Hugin against jpeg7 again in stead of jpeg-8 just to test my theory. On the other hand: I also had reports from users using my ImageFuser (also compiled for some time already against jpeg7) that jpeg7 is 8 times slower on G4 than the previous jpeg6. So is jpeg-7, and therefore also jpeg-8 perhaps, less optimized for older architectures?
