Looking at the data here-  'Close' to us is purely relative- and this
source is WAY past local stars @ circa 300 light years or possibly as
much as 1/30 of the galactic diameter ( Co-author estimation) !
Always good to remember we can rely on our magnetospere and atmosphere
to protect us from all those unknowns, though.
