I can't see these chemical levels as actual cause of Hum. They simply exacerbate an existing tendency imo. Clacium has also been listed elsewhere as a builder of hum tendency , presumably linked to bone build up in the ear mechanism. Quite likely too- to cause sensitivity...but not one that would cut in and out in seconds or minutes. The bodys' time constant is much to slow for this. Thresholds could well be affected and thus seem to indicate a causal link which doesn't , in fact, exist. Looking at the symptoms and not the cause is what most people [and some medics too] - do so readily.
Aspirin has oft been quoted as a cause of HF tinnitus- but I have never noticed any connection- seeing I have it nearly all the time :) Too many independant variables ,always, in this equation of Hum !
