Very interesting this - the reason for shutting down the airspace over most of Europe. It now appears, as I first suspected that it wasn't necessary at all as there was no, or very little of this volcanic dust in the atmosphere. We were promised spectacular sun rises and sunsets from the dust in the troposphere, but of course we didn't get them cos there was no dust to make them. A very good artical in the Mail on Sunday 25/04/10 today confirms this. However weren't the crystal clear deep blue skies spectacular? No haze creating dispersing vapour trails to make the sky pale and insipid, and no CT ing either. Skies as nature intends them to be, and as I remember them as a kid. I too thought that The Hum might disappear with no air traffic, but it's been as consistent as ever. MMMmmmMMMMMmmmmmMMMm on and on it goes. Sometimes on or off or just about there, or full on 11 on the Hum meddler's knob scale. As I write here in central London, it's off, or just about on, or as to be so low as to not be noticeable, but I know it's there. I was on the other side of the world a few weeks back, in the back of beyond, and yes, there it was....................
