Hello Will,

In November 1989 a group of Hum sufferers met in London and formed the
Low Frequency Noise Sufferers Association, their purpose being to find
the cause of the Hum and bring the problem to the attention of the UK
Government.
In the next few years the membership grew to around 2000 subscribing
members and in 1992 the Association pressured the UK government to
investigate the problem.
Nothing was achieved by the investigation and the Association showed
the first signs of breaking up. A large sum of money was spent
purchasing a spectrum analyser but as there was no signal to analyse
this was a waste of money which angered some members.
The members split into two groups, one side blaming mobile phones and
the other side blaming gas pipes, but as neither side could offer any
positive evidence the membership rapidly declined and the Association
broke up with much agronomy.

This is not meant to discourage your efforts but you should be aware
of past events so as to avoid making the same mistakes.

1/ get some equipment and make measurements, even if these
measurements are negative.

2/ Accept all of the observations made by Hum sufferers, do not be
tempted to air brush out observations which do not fit with your own
particular theory.

3/ Do not employ or accept statements from scientists who do not
themselves hear the Hum, in the past this mistake has had serious
consequences
