LOL,
No CuBase is hard too. I have worked on the RM1x all weekend. Miko has
been helping me out, I emailed him a style I started. I have been forcing
myself to figure out how to do something I want before just moving on. I do
sometimes get frustrated, but now it's more of a matter of "why can't I get
the sound in my head down the way I want". Which of course is a huge part
to the art of making music, getting what's in your mind into the song. I
think at times it would be easier to get what I'm thinking down if I knew
everything there was to know about the RM1x. So, I have been playing a lot
more with the Grid groove, and effects on the voice to try and do what I
need.
Maybe part of it is because there is a sound I want to make and it simply
isn't in the RM1x and can't be done. There's a new house song from Celeda
(a Danny Tenaglia diva) called Be Yourself And Nobody Else. The beat is
simple, but so incredibly groovy that I wanted to make one that sounds
similar, but I haven't succeeded - yet. :-) The baseline is also incredible
and sounds so simple, but the track just moves me. Does anyone know this
song? Is this possible with the RM1x? I have an MP3 of it and I'd be happy
to send you a piece of it if you'd like to hear part of the track.
I will make a web page once I get good at this to try and explain to the
total newbie to making music how to do it with the RM1x. I am trying to
write things as I go that I learn so that once I'm good I will remember my
struggles to help others.
On my Dreamcast comment... I had no idea anyone would have responded to it.
I did order one today along with Soul Caliber, Sonic Adventure, and
Trickstyle - along with the VMU, Jump Pak (lame that is isn't in the
controller) and an extra controller. I know the PSX2 and N64 Dolphin will
be way more powerful. I have a PSX that I almost never play, and an N64
that gets a good amount of playing. I've never had a Sega console. I went
from Intelevision at 10 years old or so to N64 and 27. ;-) I will get the
next Nintendo, but until then, most likely 2001, I will enjoy the Dreamcast.
And it was only $200.00, not bad for a powerful piece of hardware.
Thanks again gang,
Mike
