Ok...hmmm my post was originally placed here in order to get HELP on a
specific problem, but i guess it's turned out to become a debate on the RM1X
rom sounds..interesting!
well, what can i say, no the rom sounds aren't all crap, some are indeed
rather good (drums,synth sounds) and you can get nice analog like sound by
using cutoff & fx...
On the other hand, these sounds remain part of a 4 meg ROM bank, it's still
amazing the number of sounds yamaha techs got in there with such low memory,
but then again most of the sounds are thin, especially the acoustic
instruments (wind instruments are the worst..yuk)
Personally, I'd only use one or two sounds off the RM1x for a project,and
would compliment the rest with samplers & other better sound modules (even a
JV1010 would be the bomb).
See don't forget the RM1x only has one stereo out, it's not made to be the
centerpiece of a musicproject, i mean as far as sounds are concerned,not
midi since the sequencer in it rules.
Getting back to MY personal problem, which no one seems to be able to
answer, let me put it this way: has anybody here ever hooked up any external
midi gear to be controlled by the RM1x???
