Thanks Laurent.
Everything ive done since i got the rm1x has been 'live' to a
certain extent. I usually start with a melody or beat and create the phrase.
from there i add and tweak using the different parts of a pattern for
changes in the song (verse chorus buildup type of stuff). Transistor ended
up being 6 standard parts (8 or 16 bars in Sections A B C D E F) with midi
channels 1-6 reserved for percussion (all of which comes outta the A3000),
channels 7 and 8 are synth voices programmed on the sampler (the long
swooping pad is sampler based) and channels 9 through 16 are reserved for
the SY99 (usually bass bits and weird squelchy FM stuff). On top of the sic
standard parts i have 4 transistions (of which i only used 2 .. welcome to
the world of live tweaking .. forgot to use the other 2). The transitions i
keep on the far end of the section board in the last 4 spots M N O P. I
usually do a few takes straight into cooledit or logic on the pc (i use
logic to record both audio and any weird midi shit i randomly do. so if i
need to get the exact take back in midi form i have a copy). Logics
environment is also nice to really screw with midi data. but i try not to do
this too often (usually in the sketch stage) becuase i dont want to rely on
the PC at all except for recording.
When im recording a take i'll usually pick a channel and stick with
it. using the realtime FX to mess with it. If im feeling lucky ill move
between channels during the song. But having to keep track of mutes, volume
levels (I *NEED* a peavey 1600x bad here) and section selection is usually
enough to keep me busy. but i guess thats what long mid song breaks are for.
hopefully that answered enough of the questions. feel free to aks me more if
need be. I love the Rm1x and i truly think that once you get away from the
presets (sound and pattern wise) it is a truly powerful box thats able to
make some very unique and interesting music.

Hi Matthew,
I wanted to tell you that Transistor 3 is really good.
Is it live ? Do you use the pattern chain mode ? How do you use the Rm1x to
achieve this result.
Thanks ! and good work again !
