Transposing???

What exactly is the secret i'm missing?  The more and more i use and get
to know the rm1x the more and more i'm left scratching my head at why
it's doing or not, something that isn't exactly logical.  It will not
transpose any of my patterns(haven't tested songs yet)at all.  although
it works fine on the preset patterns.  what am i overlooking?
