=== I'm no expert, I don't cross-compile much and simply, it's not my hobby (writing / coding Internet Apps/Servers is my fun.)

I haven't had any screen trouble, if you are using Hazret then you can try booting with a different kernel to see if that makes it any differance.

I'm prepairing to copy all my files to a site so others can try them, but I'll be the first to say they are very ALPHA. -- I got it working enough for me, without having to compile much. The issues I had to tackle, for me, was getting linux just to boot and rotate root to ext3, where another kernel could do the final bootup.

Anyways http://www.bees-garden.com/linux there is a copy of my setup (65MB of data total). There is a copy of my hazret, so that might help some people that have been getting errors.
EDIT=  DEFAULT.TXT  as needed  for your root-drive

Again, I stress these files work for me, AS-IS. Remember to always backup anything you change.

My goal is to get a WORKING, USABLE pda in linux. Right now I can just play with GPE,
but without Wi-fi there isn't much you can do, internet wise.

I have an Ipaq HP 2495 (hx2495), I currently dual boot using Win and Hazret to use GPE. 4GB flash= 1GB VFAT for boot and shared files, 3GB Ext3 for standard linux root.

I recently bought an hx2490b (aka. hx2495b) in anticipation for linux support. Did you solve the problem of the screen being shifted to the right slightly? I'm not a a hacker by any stretch of the imagination but, if so, how did you do it?

Have fun!
