I don't think we need a "hard" string freeze.  There won't be great 
string changes before the release,
since only bugfixes will be committed.. Even if we commit some new 
strings ( maybe as a part of some new preference options), they will be 
very limited.

Everyone who wants to do a translation could start now.  I'm going to 
remind the translators kindly to check their work for updates one month 
before the final release..

Good question. Maybe it would be a good idea if one person collects the 
translations  and commits them ( and keep track of the actual 
translators and stuff like this). Just a thought.
On the other hand you can send them directly to this mailing list, 
someone will apply them of course..
