Do you mean the protocol version mismatch?

If so, Hypertable can run on 0.18.0 by replacing the
${HYPERTALBE_INSTALL_DIR}/java/lib/hadoop-0.17.1-core.jar
with ${HYPERTALBE_INSTALL_DIR}/java/lib/hadoop-0.18.0-core.jar.
