Where There's A Wheel Meredith Whitmore He felt a sense of conviction when he sat at his desk that morning. He'd spent time reviewing The Wheelduring his devotions, and Mark Platt suddenly realized he had neglected the witnessing spoke of the ministering tool. "I immediately spent some time praying about it,"
he says, "asking God to give me the opportunity to be a witness for Him." Fast forward to about three o'clock that afternoon, during a difficult day of nonstop meetings and generally hectic dealings. Though Mark was in a key meeting, his assistant pressed him to speak to a man named Steve, whom Mark had known for several years and whose lifestyle he certainly did not approve of. Rooming with his girlfriend and living the "party life," Steve wasn't a great role model for his daughter, Eryn, for whom Mark and his wife often cared. But this time Steve wasn't seeking a babysitter. His girlfriend had left him, and he was trying to piece together his thoughts about God. "He was an emotional mess," says Mark, "and he really seemed to feel convicted about the kind of life he was living. He said for the first time that he needed God." Mark and Steve spoke in greater detail for about 45 minutes that night. Mark shared the Gospel as well as his testimony, and discovered the two had much in common. Even after the deep time of sharing they'd had, Steve still wasn't ready to make a commitment that night. The next morning, though, Mark received a phone call from a new man. Steve had prayed to receive Christ and wanted to take the next step in his faith. Now Mark is looking to help Steve become involved in the discipleship. The wonderful thing about all of this-aside from Steve's new faith? Mark himself is a new convert, freshly involved!
