Dear Friend,

We are to trust the Lord in all areas of life and follow His leading wherever it may take us.  The Lord knows how to use us in ways that we have never imagined, but we must be willing and obedient to take direction humbly and without question.  When we trust the Lord to lead our life, He will be faithful to lead us on to the best path as He sees fit.  The Bible tells us in Isaiah 30:21, And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee,
saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.  I encourage you to be willing to follow the Lord's direction because your obedience will not only bring a blessing to you, but to others as well. (Proverbs 3:1-6) (1 Peter 3:11-12) (Isaiah 55:8-9)

I hope you are encouraged by today's message to follow the Lord always and
know that in doing so you will be abundantly blessed.

LOOKING TO THE CROSS

One cold early evening many years ago my wife Bartie and I set out in our cabin cruiser boat for a picnic dinner on South San Francisco Bay.  We waved to a college crew team heading out for a practice row, then proceeded down the channel toward the San Mateo Bridge.  The choppy water soon turned into huge waves.

At the drawbridge, I signaled to the bridge tender to let us through.  He shook his head, pointing to the whitecaps on the water ahead.  We were about to take our pitching craft home when, in the distance near some mud flats, we saw a ruby-colored light glowing, shimmering in the shape of a cross.  Bartie and I were mesmerized.  We turned our craft in its direction.  It was irresponsible of me -- in shallow muddy water our engine might suck up mud that can destroy it -- but still I felt compelled to follow the cross.
Now mud was coming from the exhaust pipe, and the temperature of our engine had risen into the danger zone, but the light drew me on.

Then we came up to it, only to find that the light was merely a buoy reflecting the red sunset.  Bartie and I felt foolish; we had actually risked our boat to chase a mirage.

Look, the water is full of coconuts, Bartie said.  But they weren't coconuts at all; they were the men from the rowing crew, whose shell had crashed into the bridge and sunk.  One by one we pulled them aboard.  They had been in the water for over an hour.

Facing death, gulping the icy salt water, they had come to a point of desperation and had prayed together for rescue.  And that was when the cross began to shine for me.

Be encouraged and know that it is to our own benefit that we follow the leading of the Lord.  The safest place for any believer to be in is the will of God for their life.  Through our obedience in following the Lord's leading, blessings unknown will come to us as well as others who we come into contact with.  If you have not followed the leading of the Lord for whatever reason, I encourage you to be sensitive to that still small voice
and know that is to your betterment that you do what the Lord asks of you.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him

James 1:22-24, 27 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction,
and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah 1:19-20 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

=========================================

Dear Friend,

When obstacles come our way trying to discourage our heart, we are to remember that all things are promised to work together for good because of our love and faith in God.  We read in Romans 8:28, And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.  The Lord knows all things at all times and nothing can ever surprise God. The Bible says that God declares the end from the beginning.  He does not create anything without first declaring its end.  God's wisdom and understanding is so much higher and better than
ours can ever be.  He is infinite and is not constrained by limits that so easily confine our hands.  If troubles are causing you to be discouraged, take comfort and know that with the Lord all things are possible and nothing shall be kept from those whose heart is perfect towards the Lord. (Psalm 139:1-14) (Isaiah 46:9-12) (Job 12:12-19) (2 Chronicles 16:9)

I hope you are encouraged by today's message to trust the Lord in everything and know that it is God's good pleasure to fill you with Joy that overflows and peace that surpasses all understanding.

ENVISIONING THE END

Eight-year-old Frank had looked forward for weeks to this particular Saturday because his father had promised to take him fishing if the weather was suitable.  There hadn't been any rain for weeks and as Saturday approached, Frank was confident of the fishing trip. But, wouldn't you know it, when Saturday morning dawned, it was raining heavily and it appeared that it would continue all day.

Frank wandered around the house, peering out the windows and grumbling more
than a little.  Seems like the Lord would know that it would have been better to have the rain yesterday than today, he complained to his father who was sitting by the fireplace, enjoying a good book. His father tried to explain to Frank how badly the rain was needed, how it would make the flowers grow and bring much needed moisture to the farmers' crops.  But Frank was adamant.  It just isn't right, he said over and over.

Then, about three o'clock, the rain stopped.  Still time for some fishing, and quickly the gear was loaded and they were off to the lake.  Whether it was the rain or some other reason, the fish were biting hungrily and father and son returned with a full string of fine, big fish.

At supper, when some of the fish were ready, Frank's mom asked him to say grace.  Frank did - and concluded his prayer by saying, And, Lord, if I sounded grumpy earlier today it was because I couldn't see far enough ahead.

By James Hewett

Be encouraged and know that God sees the end of the journey that we are  still traveling on.  He knows exactly what we need and when we need it and His timetable is exact and proficient whereas ours is not.  Have confidence in the Lord and know that He loves you with an everlasting love and wishes that your Joy may be full.  The Bible says that it is God's good pleasure to give us the kingdom, so let us come before Him with Thanksgiving and not complaint and continually let God know that our eyes are focused on Him and not on the negative situations that come before us. (Isaiah 40:12-14)

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Psalm 145:14-19 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.  The eyes of all wait upon Thee; and Thou givest them their meat in due season.  Thou openest Thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.  The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.   The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth. He will fulfill the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

Proverbs 3:5-8 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Luke 12:29-32 Jesus declares, And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.  For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
