Happy New Year and all the best in 2005. The Thirtieth Annual IPA Convention & Exhibition will be held at the Jakarta Convention Center on August 30 - September 1, 2005. The Technical Program Committee issues the attached CALL FOR PAPERS to encourage papers suitable for oral and poster presentations at the convention. The theme for the 2005 IPA Annual Convention & Exhibition is "The Urgency of Building Competitiveness to Attract Oil and Gas Investment in Indonesia." This theme is of keen interest and should stimulate lively discussion about the impact of recent changes, such as regional autonomy, on oil and gas activities. This gives us the opportunity to specifically target individuals like yourself and ask if you or your staff have technical work to share or promote. A set of preliminary session titles in the attached CALL FOR PAPERS will serve as the initial basis for technical sessions, but papers on other topics of general interest are also welcome. The deadline for submitting abstracts is January 28, 2005 to insure that sufficient time is allowed for authors to submit abstracts and - if selected - to produce first-rate papers for the convention and proceedings. Our objective is to assemble a strong program around the future of our oil & gas industry. We are targeting approximately 100 papers addressing topics of current interest to the petroleum industry. The technical program offers a unique opportunity for interaction amongst participants from leading oil companies, service companies, academic institutions, and government agencies. Your continued support is critical to the success of the Thirtieth Annual IPA Convention & Exhibition as the premier oil industry conference in SE Asia. Please plan to take an active role this coming year by insuring the widest possible exposure of the CALL FOR PAPERS within your company and by encouraging and supporting the people in your organization to participate in the convention program.
