If you like now Spring does forums, I could host the forums (ex: http://www.sandraSF.com/forums - it's PHP :-( ). It must stay less than 15 gigs per month, which I think Sturts + Apache is that much.

ps: I wrote some code to make DAO works as a remote Service, a DAO dispatcher and w/ JMX, will post code soon, but raise your hand if you want it.

We have to maintain the source code in an Apache repository, but community-support issues like forums and mailing lists are up to us.

For example, after several teams started using JIRA on their own, the ASF setup our own JIRA site.

A very good way to get the ASF to setup a phpBB board on Nagoya (or somewhere) would be to set one up ourselves.

(In fact, I did the same for Struts. I setup SVN on wush.net, so the committers could give it a try, and once they did, we were sold.)

I was thinking off-site hosting of phpBB. But, it would be nice to
see Apache have phpBB as a forum solution. However, it's only a
wish. I'm not sure if we'd be breaking some rules if we were to do
that. Also, once the ibatis list is archived by apache it will be
searchable. I just think forums and phpBB in specific are a better
solution for searching. I've never been completely satisfied with
any of the archiving solutions.

:-D I think I'm finally getting the message - replying to
problems on the closed forums is a nice thing, but moving people
onto Apache is a Good Thing.

As for something like phpBB - that's a great idea! No question
that the move to Apache is great, but the forum support is not
the high point...without easy searching you can't complain when
someone asks the same question for the 1000th time... :-}

But I'm curious - I haven't seen another Apache project that uses
something like phpBB - is that something they'll host somehow, or
do you have other plans?

Hey all,

I'm going to close the forums on sourceforge (title only).

People will be able to post to them still but they will be
titled as following:

CLOSED - Development
Please subscribe to the new list at ibatis-dev-
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

CLOSED - Users
Please subscribe to the new list at
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is this okay with everyone?

Brandon

P.S. Personally, I think we should setup a phpBB forum for
users to post to. I don't like lists cuz they suck to search.
I've been an apache list user for some time. It's a grade
better than sourceforge forums. But, i think phpBB kicks it's
butt. However, I loathe sourceforge forums worse. So, i am
axnious to ditch them.
