The correct way to load thinkpad-acpi by default is "thinkpad_acpi experimental=1" (if you want experimental features). Hotkeys are enabled by default, and with a proper default mask in any non-ancient thinkpad-acpi version. Messing with that by default is *not* nice. In fact, mask 0xffffff is bad for just about *every* thinkpad, in all current userspace configs. Ubuntu's hacked HAL avoid *some* of the problems that 0xffffff causes, but not all of them, and not for all applications. And I have a patch queued for thinkpad-acpi which will bitch about anyone setting masks 0xffff, 0xffffff and 0xfffffffff. -- "One disk to rule them all, One disk to find them.
